Mariposa Restoration Services (MRS) is an ecological restoration design and project management firm based in central Washington State. Our work is focused on inland Northwest ecosystems such as shrub-steppe, forests, and riparian-wetlands. Collectively, MRS has over 30 years of experience restoring native plant communities. Our team is comprised of Katherine Fitch and Mel Asher.


Katie Fitch

Katie has worked in the restoration field for over 12 years in a variety of habitats across central Washington and Oregon. She has a Master of Science in Natural Resource Management and is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner with the Society for Ecological Restoration. She has worked for the US Forest Service, the Yakama Nation, and BFI Native Seeds as a Plant and Restoration Ecologist. Katie is responsible for planning, implementation, and monitoring of riparian, wetland and upland habitat restoration projects.

Mel Asher

Mel has 18 years of experience working in ecological restoration, beginning in the Midwest and Southwest during post-graduate work, and continuing in the PNW since 2003. She was employed by both the federal and state government early in her career, and has worked in the private sector since 2010. Mel earned a BS from Michigan State University (2000), a MS from Texas A & M University (2003), and is a Certified Ecological Restoration Practitioner (CERP) by the Society for Ecological Restoration. Her current work includes design, monitoring, and management for post-wildfire, mitigation, and wildlife habitat projects.
